graciascoverPat Mora, poet and author of books for adults, young adults, and children, continues to delight her readers and entice new booklovers to her joyful and fun bilingual children’s books. Gracias * Thanks is a colorful delight to read as a parent, as well as for children. Parent and child(ren) can celebrate together through reading, discovering, and being mesmerized by the vibrant illustrations, beautifully crafted by John Parra. Readers will experience the Spanish language in la cultura del norte. It is a wondrous bilingual experience, one in which to participate without hesitation. What better way to initiate foreign language learning than by reading a bilingual book? What better way to continue the cultural experience of one’s heritage? Por Pat Mora, gracias.

Discover Languages month is coming up in February! This is a public awareness endeavor lead by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages to advocate for language education at all levels of instruction, childhood through adulthood, to research and promote best practices of language learning, and to encourage unified collaboration among language professionals as a resource for each other and language students. This five year old annual effort advocates and promotes the benefits that individuals, as well as society, gain from being multilingual and multicultural.

I have dedicated my career to teaching the Spanish language, literature, and culture as part a language study program. It is important and advantageous to experience a foreign culture and the language that is shared by its people. It is then that an individual becomes aware of his/her part in the global community, able and motivated to live his/her cultural knowledge and experience in the real world on a daily basis.
