Austin Community College in collaboration with Dulce Bread & Book Shop and Dominican Joe Coffee Shop present a Writers’ Creative Circle with Authors Cristina Garcia & Belinda Acosta, Singer/Songwriter David Garza, and Screenwriter/Filmmaker Miguel Alvarez. Event Location: Dominican Joe Coffee Shop, 515 S. Congress Event Date & Time: Friday, November 12, at 8 PM Creative Circle is a group of writers that include local authors, a songwriter, and a screenwriter discussing the creative process of their writing while reading and singing from masterwork. The discussion will have an impromptu feel for the audience as they enjoy the experience of an artistic “jam session”. Invited author, Belinda Acosta, will moderate the Creative Circle as part of ACC’s The Big Read. This year’s Big Read theme is “silent heroes” which will be the point of departure for the discussion among the group of writers, giving each an opportunity to feature this theme within their creative process and masterworks. The audience will enjoy experiencing the commonalities and complexities of these artistic disciplines in creative writing. Dulce Book Shop will be selling the writers’ books & music onsite while Dominican Joe's will offer food & drink, with 20% of the proceeds going toward Makarios. Makarios is a non-profit dedicated to helping pull families out of poverty by providing their kids with a quality education in the Dominican Republic.
